Animal Care started in November 1977. Three dogs, six puppies and a piglet were taken in.....in the first month!
Over the years thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other animal and birds have been taken in and where possible re-homed. A number of animals have stayed permanently because of age, behavior problems or on-going veterinary treatment.
In August 2003 Jane had a double hip replacement. This has meant she can no longer manage large, boisterous dogs.
People's pets have been helped with veterinary treatment. Also animals have been cared for when owners have been homeless and eventually reunited.
All animals need regular veterinary treatment. Dogs and cats are all neutered, vaccinated and wormed. The ponies and goats have the Farrier to trim hooves. They also have vaccinations and dental checks regularly. Hay, straw, shavings and concentrate feeds add to the expenses.
Help with fundraising is always welcomed. Also we always need unwanted gifts and bric-a-brac for raffles and tombola prizes. Blankets and newspapers are also gratefully received.
If you can offer a dog or cat a home please ring Jane for an appointment and a home check. Gardens must be secure and no one out at work all day will be considered.
